ABOUT

Hello! I am a freelance Illustrator living in Portland, Oregon. I specialize in hand-lettering and print + pattern design. My work is often inspired by the natural world and textures, a love for vintage kids books and making things by hand. I have a fine art background, and try to step away from the computer and use that as a starting place for most of my designs and illustration. My work has primarily been used for textile design, home wares, social media, stationary and editorials. Some of my work has been used by: Fred Meyers/Kroger, Hanna Andersson, Nike, Gap, Columbia Sportswear, and Stio.

As well as illustration, I am experienced in other creative and production based aspects of design. I can provide technical repeats and color separations for textile design and hand off print-ready files. I have art direction experience, have provided content for blogs as well as other social media outlets, and love working with small businesses to develop logo design. I also do lettering and calligraphy for events, such as weddings and parties.

In my spare time, I love to spend time outdoors with my husband and two kids. I have a dog, two cats, and three chickens who lay three different colors of eggs. I grew up in rural Idaho, with lava rocks in my backyard and rattlesnakes in my driveway.

If you have any questions or want to inquire on a freelance project, or have an upcoming event you would like lettering for, please contact me at kristamesser (at) gmail (dot) com.
